There are certain projects that remind you exactly why you built your business in the first place.
Being commissioned to create bespoke event details for Spark a Conversation, an event led by Steven Bartlett, was one of those moments.
From the very first brief, this wasn’t about “merch” or generic branding. It was about meaning, storytelling, and creating tactile pieces that would quietly elevate the entire experience — details guests would notice, remember, and talk about long after the event ended.
For a studio built on craftsmanship and considered design, it was a dream brief.
Designing With Intention: Turning a Word Into an Experience
The concept behind Spark a Conversation is powerful in its simplicity — ideas start conversations, and conversations spark change.
Our role was to translate that ethos into physical objects that felt intentional, elegant, and emotionally resonant.
We created two bespoke elements:
Personalised Ribbon
Custom-printed ribbon, designed specifically for the event, was used throughout the space — subtle but impactful. It added texture, movement and cohesion, tying together styling, gifting and presentation in a way that felt refined rather than promotional.
Ribbon might seem like a small detail, but at premium events, it’s the details that do the heavy lifting.

Concept Matchbox Props
To play on the word spark, we designed personalised matchbox props — a symbolic nod to igniting ideas, ambition and conversation.
These weren’t functional giveaways. They were story-led props, designed to sit within the event environment and prompt reflection, photography and dialogue.
Sometimes, the most powerful branding doesn’t shout. It simply lands.

From Podcast Philosophy to Physical Reality
Steven Bartlett often speaks about ideas beginning small — a thought, a moment, a spark — before becoming something transformative.
That philosophy aligns perfectly with how we approach our work at Printlux.
A concept becomes a sketch.
A sketch becomes a prototype.
A prototype becomes an experience.
To see that process come full circle for an event connected to The Diary of a CEO was genuinely meaningful for our team.
It’s proof that thoughtful print still has a powerful place in a digital-first world.

Why Brands Are Choosing Bespoke Over Branded
This project is a perfect example of a wider shift we’re seeing across corporate events, brand activations and high-profile experiences:
• Less logo-heavy merchandise
• More concept-led physical touchpoints
• Objects designed to mean something, not just exist
When guests interact with something tactile — ribbon, texture, a physical prop — it slows them down. It creates a pause. And that pause is where connection happens.
That’s where conversations spark.
